Livable Jinchun Innovation City Library is a project completed and opened in May 2017 at the midst of Chung-buk Innovation City, Korea. The library is a 1750sqm single story building maximizing its functional area and minimizing inefficient circulation.

Detailed programs of the library are divided into three groups i.e. Library, Children, and Education. Those are arranged in each wings of triangular shape building and communal circulation area in between the wings link all the spaces and offer a spatial flexibility of the library. The communal circulation area is lifted up by 1.5m to offer natural ventilation and sky light. This design approach also offers the idea of different use of roofscape such as roof deck and area for solar panel.

The edge of the masses are pushed and pulled to adjust appropriate areas for the detailed program of the library and it automatically emphasize the difference between 3 program masses and circulation mass. Also the masses are sliced horizontally and the upper parts of the cut masses are pushed inward to offer a dynamic roofscape and it functions as roof deck, solar panel zone and canopy of 3 main entrances.

Unitized cladding system with porous panels control openness and closeness of the internal space. Those gradient patterns of the openness emphasize the curvature of the external walls.
